Staying Positive

For every bad thing, there's a good part to it.

Why would I say that? Cos it's a fact, of cos... but maybe I'm just trying to stay positive~

For example:

Bad >> You encounter some bad experience in your relationship
Good >> You realise there ARE true friends around you

Bad >> You have a damn hectic day at work
Good >> You actually CAN do so much things in a day

Bad >> You had been rejected (for whatever stuff)
Good >> There's other better opportunities waiting for you (thou it may not show up immediately)

and the most recent example from me...

Bad >> I had to wake up damn early for a whole day event (super tiring~)
Good >> I got to know a new friend slightly better

1st Prawning Session

Finally I had my 1st prawning session... with my usual group... minus Stephen. Everyone got at least one pull of the prawn on their rod, except ME! Even Shir got her 1st (and only) prawn too (from other people's rod). I dunno if I should put the blame on my rod, cos the prawns did ate my bait (the pig liver) and I could feel the slight tug at the end of the rod... but whenever I pull, I see no prawn. I suspected my hook could be too blunt, so I went to change another one (at the last hour out of the 3 hours we booked). But it still yields no result. Even though the others had a try with my rod, the prawns still dun get hooked. Maybe the prawn community is trying to maintain my good karma I had so far *hehe*.

Anyway, since I have poor luck in getting prawns, I try to make myself useful by helping Devon and Angie put on the "bigger" baits onto the hooks (in a cruel manner) and also help them to remove the hooked prawns from the hook. By the way, we noticed that Angie loves to toss the hooked prawns from the pond up to the roof top before tossing the poor prawn down onto the ground again *tsk tsk... bad Angie*

Ashburn is good at prawning and we gave him and Mikko all the prawns that we got (ahem... should be they, since I sucks... *sigh*). Ashburn said that he cooked them in Tomyam style and his mum said not bad.

So my 1st experience in prawning was bad... and I dun like it... cos I got nothing from that and I should have use that S$30 to buy cooked prawns to eat instead. But the time spent with them was nice thou~ (must at least say something good from the gathering mah)

Found Some Life~

Recently I had been hanging out with this group of friends for dinner/supper-cum-gossip sessions almost every night. All of us had NEVER got together before this and it's all thanks to Ping's 烂桃花 (bad scandal ordeal) - cos Shir and me had been psycho-ing her to forget that useless bum and we met up quite often. Then slowly one by one, the group expanded. Now we have a total of 8 members, which includes: Mikko, Ping, Devon, Angie, Ashburn, Stephen, Shir and me.

With the frequent meet-ups, I managed to find some "life" after my new "disastrous" posting. Thanks~

Ping said we should take a picture of our group but we always forgot about it. But I wonder... what the response will be if I post our picture here *haha* can't imagine actually~ Anyway, hope our proposed plans (e.g. upcoming retreat & overseas fortune telling) could be carried out smoothly.

Say A Little Prayer For Me

Dear GOD, please bless Ah Sze the power to survive this ordeal~

Today someone came over to my desk and offer to say some real prayers for me. It was some kind of Church work and he wanted some support in the activity - which is to get 100k people blessed (I think so... cos I only remember the word "100k" on the leaflet cover page).

Well it was comforting temporary and I was glad to see someone familiar - my Audit Boss *Thank You*. I still very much prefer the life in my previous workplace. We were like a family then, and every working shift was fun. I can't comment much on my current job. Everyone was busy juggling their own workload, occasionally we would work together, but the bonding is different. I miss you guys~ do you miss me? Hahaha...

Some Serious Thoughts

I thought I could have an off day this week - on National Day that is... but I was wrong... I had a duty on that ONLY day of the week *sigh* and I am on another duty on Sunday til Monday. Just in case you are wondering about my Saturday, I had to go and settle some work for a few hours too. Yeah... I know I'm lamenting about my work again~ you may skip this post if you want to, but I'll still continue to type *grinz*

Today somebody came over and saw the amount of files in my cupboard - he was shocked! I'm already starting to get immune at the sight of increasing files (mostly passed down by those who had left the team) and it's still on-going. Something is wrong somewhere and nothing is being done. People are leaving one by one (mainly from my team) and the outstanding workload was distributed to the "newbies" like me and other guys. I guess now the amount of files I'm having is comparable to those who had already been working there for more than 3 months - and I'm only one and a half months old.

Seriously speaking, the path is rough~ and I'm still learning the ropes. The good thing is the knowledge and experience. The bad thing is the phone call - which could happen 24/7 anytime, anywhere - and it's eating into my personal life. During a recent dialogue session with the super top management people, this question was posed to all - "What will made you stay?"

My answer: " As long as it doesn't affect the time I have for my family and personal life, I'll stay". The passion is still alive in me~ but the workload is really consuming too much of my time. I guess I should do something about it... and it's either to grit my teeth and force my way through the rough path, or to take the easy way out.

Thinking in process... (as usual)

Oh by the way, that day Zulkifli just asked me when I would post something more lively in my blog. Well, I wanted to... but I can't seem to find any at this point in time. I'm already grateful that I'm still "surviving" *haha* and I'm still smiling to people at work as much as possible (pardon me if I'm pulling a long face k?)

Blue~

It's been a month plus now~ I'm still feeling blue~

The work is never-ending and it's piling up like nobody's business. I really wonder how they survived the heaps of sh*t work everyday. Maybe I'm too concerned over them? Cos sumtimes I see people don't really care about their fully packed cabinets. I still have 1 year and 11 months to go... and it's really tough starting out. I think those who think that our job is not challenging enough can come and join me... cos it's too challenging to even imagine how it's like.

Mum ever asked me before "So when is your off day?" cos I'm back home just to sleep and next day I'm off to work again. I told her there's no fixed off day for me although it was supposed to be "office hour". She said "What kind of job is that? Where got like that wan?" I told her "Bo Bian leh..." and then I kept wondering "What kind of job is this?"

People are leaving the place cos they can't take it anymore. I heard complaints everyday around me with only a handful of motivational words. But it doesn't help much. Maybe it'll keep me motivated for that day... but when it comes back to reality, the feeling remains the same.

The thoughts came back to me again~ should I or should I not? But I should not fail the expectations from those who have trust in me. I will see how the 1st 3 months go bah~ life is so miserable for me now *sigh*

1st Doll-House

This is my 1st doll-house.... *ahem* ya I know it's kinda childish~ but as long as I'm happy fixing it piece by piece, who cares? Anyway, it's really fun to fix the wooden parts together from scratch.

Front view of the Gothic House
*Note: Due to space constraint, the kitchen area is located outside the house.

Back and interior view of the house
*Note: Furniture is actually not meant for this house but we tried our best to squeeze them in.

I'm Breathing

Yeah!! Finally I felt alive and breathing for the whole of this week~

Got the time to do the necessary stuff at my own pace and plan something for the weekend, which for the past two weeks, I only have the sunday to rest at home.

Okay... let's hope for the best! By the way this is my office desk... where I spent more time here than at home... for the past two weeks~

Getting Lucky Again

Am I lucky? Tell me after you read this...

Today I went to have my haircut at J8 after having lunch with Shirlene. She then went back to her own house cos she need to teach her cousin homework. She brought one set of our house key with her and I don't... and I totally forgot about it.

After my haircut I decided to go home instead of going to her house cos my stomach felt weird (meaning I need to sit on my 'throne'). So when I reached my doorstep, I realised I dun have the house key with me!! But I could see my own key on the study table in front of the door. It's so near and yet so far... and the distance can't be reached by using a typical broom (cos I saw two along the corridor). The only tool was something long... like "The Bamboo Stick" (those used for hanging clothes of cos). So I tried to look around the corridors at other floors but there was none. Although the chance of finding one is quite slim, but the hope is there~

Eventually after walking down 3 floors, the hope became so thin that I decided to go Shirlene's house to visit her 'throne' instead (dun forget at that time my stomach was still feeling weird). When I reached the void deck, I used my last hope to check the letterbox area where there was this dustbin and people usually like to discard their items there. And there lies my HOPE... "The Red Bamboo Stick" was waiting for me!!! Hahaha... can you imagine how happy I was?

So finally I managed to use the beloved red bamboo and got my key on the study table. I wonder if the people in the opposite block noticed my "bamboo actions" hahaha... I'm like commiting some kind of daylight HouseBreaking at my own house. Anyway now my stomach is fine and I am a happy person again~ so what's your opinion?

Sadz...

Juz had my 2nd War on 11 July 07~ it was considered a better tour than the 1st... but it made me felt lousy over an issue. Got my team-mate into a sh*t hole when he had to help me refer someone to another agency... and it took him almost 7 hours!!

I wonder why it had to take so long (about 4 hrs) to see a doctor at one of our Singapore's phychiatric centre. It's so inefficient but people have no choice but to endure the damn long waiting hours. But if they were to come and wait at my organisation for some kind of service, complaint letters would be flying in if we let them wait for too long... well, life is unfair~ so it's very hard to explain certain things in a logical way.

Anyway, I haven been resting well these two weeks. I'm practically working EVERYDAY, even on Sunday although I tried not to step into my office. But I was working from home. I could feel the stress that the guys are having from the current job, no wonder so many of them wanted to step down from the post, and some even wanted to resign. Purely from my team, 1 guys just tendered his resignation, 1 just told OC that he's resigning, 1 will be leaving for another unit, and a few kept having negative feedbacks about the job. I guess it was a wrong time for me to join the unit... it's so demoralising~ and I feel kinda moody since yesterday... *sobz*

1st of all, I felt really bad that I let my team guy suffered the 7 hrs plus (due to the long referral).

Secondly, I really spent too much time on the job... that I only left the office when the moon had appeared, to sleep at home and maybe had dinner before I reached home. Sooner or later, I'm gonna be a person with no life!!

Thirdly, imagine your team-mates are leaving one at a time when you just joined the team... it's like from 10 men becoming 6 men now~ manpower's really tight, which means the number of people to consult is lesser. Summore their workload had to be distributed to the others, adding on to the existing ones~ thereby increasing the stress level.

Will I be able to endure for the 2 years posting? They said if we can handle the 1st 3 months, we can do it for long... I really have doubts about myself~ but I will try to do it...

1st War

I had survived the 1st "war" of my new work environment!!

Let me count the hours I'm awake (physically) from 3rd July to 4th July... 37 hours wor~

I felt like I was some kind of Octopus... cos there were so many calls to answer at one time and I only can use one ear to listen (although I had three different handphones with me on duty). It was really a test on my multi-tasking ability. Whenever I finished answering a call, there would be like at least 2 miss calls (maximum is 5) from it. Anyway... it was really an exciting experience for my 1st duty~ so many things to learn and do (even though I already have 8 years plus of working experience in the related field). Learning is a never-ending process k?

It was really funny when I tried to at least complete one of the tasks that I was supposed to do after my 24 hour shift, in the office. Eyes were on the labby screen, fingers on the keyboard typing but my mind was actually sleeping. I dun understand what I typed at all... but I tried my best and finally I left my office at 6.50pm and slept at 8pm. What a looong day for me~ (and there's more to come... OMG)

Pics At Sentosa

Finally I can upload pictures taken by Adrian using his "powderful" camera at Sentosa. Actually must also compliment on his "powderful" skills if not next time he dowan to be our photographer liao *hehe*

Err... is he looking at us?

Shir: I wonder if his sideburn will come off the face?
Sze: Sorry Sir... please forgive her~

Because of Shir, I have to pay them "protection fees" *sigh*

This was my "throne" in ancient times

I must have owed them "something" in my previous life~

Speak No Evil - See No Evil - Hear No Evil

Sitting down with the "Ah Pek" to relax awhile

Care for some steamboat with ingredients displayed for ages liao?

Scary atmosphere among the "people"??

Nothing to describe this pic except for "cool"~

Maybe you guys can buy the numbers for 4D... lucky lucky~

Luge-ing in action after all the excitment... this is the ending point actually~

2nd time riding up the terrain via Sky Ride... and I have height phobia!!

Serene backdrop at the "Song of The Sea" at Siloso Beach

The water display - see the difference between Adrian's camera and my O2?

" Powderful" right?

Here comes the fireworks!!

Sentosa Again~

Went to Sentosa again today, but this time there were 4 of us - Me, Shir, Baoli & Adrian. Got 4 corporate passes for free admission but I didn't know Adrian's car still need to pay S$2/= for entrance. Anyway it's only S$2/= but Baoli said she wana claim from me *petty buddy haha*

Went for two rounds of Luge and the 2nd round was a F1 race between me and Adrian. The cornerings were exciting but I lost to Adrian at the last corner cos the Luge wobbled so much from the speed that I'm afraid that I would flew off the track - so I had to slow down. Only Adrian didn't commented that the Luge was wobbly. Guess it might be due to the "stability" of his weight *haha*

The last time I went to Sentosa, I didn't get to watch the show at the Musical Fountain - technical fault which was still unknown if it was due to my "suayness" cos Shir said it was very rare (from her knowledge as an ex-employee there). Anyway now Sentosa no more Musical Fountain liao... so we went to try our luck at the new attraction - "Song of The Sea" at Siloso Beach. Luckily the show went smoothly... and it was really fascinating... with all the water, fire, laser and fireworks display. Took some pictures with my O2 PDA again~

How Much Will You Spend?

People can really spend $$$ on items like handbags, shoes, clothes, etc....

And to what extent of amount are they willing to fork out for that item that they fancied?

Recently I learnt from one of my close friend that she had bought a handbag for a shocking amount of S$2,110/=!! She had "fell in love" with the branded handbag (not nice for me to say out the two-worded name here but it starts with the letter 'M') which she saw on a magazine and she initially wanted the brown one but it was out of stock (sold out to other "rich" people). So she chose the white one, which I think it looked quite nice as well. She showed me the handbag, I took a picture, and decided to post in here for sharing purpose.

Then I wonder... what was the most expensive item I had bought for myself so far~ I did spent alot on my beloved PC, for the upgrades and "medicines" when it fell sick, but it comprised of alot of parts. So that one not counted. Anyway I don't have good memory to recap such stuff, so it's very hard for me to think about THAT item now. But maybe some of you can post some comments (not on the tagboard pls) to share about your most expensive item?? Erm... think must exclude cars and bikes lah... cos those are confirmed luxury goods mah~

I See Light!!

Omg... after going through a week of so-called "office hour" audit (referring to project No.1 in previous post), today was the 1st time I see the sun when I left office for home *hahaha*

Note: Elton must be thinking "no big deal" cos I believed he also seldom see the sun when he returned home from work (hor?? Ah Tatt...)

Anyway the reason why I could return home earlier was becos we were not selected for the "audit", and that was a GREAT news for everyone!! No.1 really made me and Teng cracked our head and we had to study the whole stack of dunno how many pages (50 - 90 bah) of report and both of us were like students, sitting down together and studying for exams (with all the highlighting and underlining work). So finally~ we were able to breathe today in the office.... but the thing is not over yet, cos I heard we might need to help the other places who were chosen for the audit. It's quite an important audit for the TOP people cos if we got through, we could get a huge sum of money from it. My Audit Boss say must wait till Monday to see my physical fate - to see which office to report to, since currently I'm being taken out from my new post, solely for this No.1 thingy.

Life After 15th June 07~

After I had been officially posted to my new work environment on 15th June 07, I had been very busy... not with the new work itself, but with other projects and audit stuff. Not again~ you may think... well, Ah Sze is ALWAYS busy with all these extra work wan lor... but this time round it's different. It's like I'm being stretched to the max (maybe haven max lah... cos I haven really start my new work yet). Let me share my busy schedule k? Dun yawn first...

Currently I have 4 confirmed projects on hand in addition to my basic job scope. Everything clashed with one another during the month of my posting, dunno for what purpose. Maybe it's for fun and laughter, peace and joy bah (someone taught me this phrase).

No.1 will end on 4th July if we're chosen for the assessment (something like audit but harder)~
No.2 will end on 19th July after the Visit by someone important~
No.3 will end dunno when... but important is we must come out with the WITs project paper~
No.4 will end (temporary) in Mar 08 after all activities are carried out~ but I think the committee will be organising other stuff after that, so can say it's never-ending bah~
No.5 may be starting in Sept this year if I'm involved again cos I had been doing that audit for 2 years consecutively.

The only lucky thing is I'm being taken out from my new work to concentrate fully on No.1 cos it's considered very important to the organisation. But I feel bad for my new team-mates... since they have to cover my gap during this period.

Office hour is very tiring for me. I'm not a day person. But I have to get used to the new life.

Ok... now you can start yawning if you haven done so... or stop it if you had already started.

Adios~ Til We Meet Again~

Today's farewell plan with my team had failed... cos I had to take urgent leave to attend to my injured FiFi - he hurt his front right paw which bled and smudged his nose and mouth area.

Anyway I still went to my work place since I had a meeting to attend at 4pm with the Top Management again. This time round the atmosphere was much relaxing than the previous meetings and it's the 1st time I saw their "stress" reaction over an upcoming assessment interview on them. It was funny thou... to hear the phrase "is there any standard answer?" from the 2nd Head when he saw those questions posed by the assessors.

After the meeting, I decided to stay back until my team finished their shift at 7.30pm. I wanted to bid my farewell to them officially, although I'll still be in the same building after my transfer *haha* The farewell speech was short cos I dunno what else to say, but I really hope the new bloods (Eugene, Jerry and Firdaus aka Ravi) could maintain the good old Team Bravo which was always fun with the strong cohesion among us.

To all my brothers and sister... Take care and all the best in your future advancements!! Dun forget about Ah Sze k?

Toopid Driver

How weird can taxi drivers be? We've heard all sorts of unhappy encounters with "them" and earlier on I just faced one. His name is Quek Cheng Tee driving SHB2025K (CityCab)...

Shirlene had knocked off from her work at 12am plus and she was able to claim taxi fare for her transportation to home. So I was there to company her in closing her shop cos it was too late and dangerous to do it alone. Anyway that is not the main point lah~

Both of us then hopped onto that toopid cab along AMK Ave 3 and I told him the destination (my home of cos). So as usual, I told him to turn left (in Mandarin) at a few junctions in order to reach my house. Then we came to T junction (AMK St 52 & St 53) where I told him to turn LEFT. But I dunno if he was deaf or what, he made a RIGHT turn!! I was so near to my house k?! And with that wrong turn, it was obviously a longer way. I didn't flare up since I was a good-tempered person normally (unless being provoked - those people who witnessed the FIERCE SZE will know). So I just told him in Mandarin: " Uncle, just now I asked you to turn LEFT leh, but you turn RIGHT". There was silence......... Shirlene and me then exchanged glances and I repeated that phrase to him again. By that time, he had reached another junction and he was supposed to turn LEFT, which luckily he did (since going straight would have gone towards NYP). Throughout the whole journey after the wrong turn, he did not uttered a word, let alone an apology. Toopid driver!!

Eventually we managed to arrive safely at the carpark with fumes coming out from my ears. I just took down his name and taxi number and I WILL email CityCab to feedback about his idiotic attitude.

Police Week Carnival

Went to the Police Week Carnival at Old Police Academy with Hairul & Hamdan yesterday... it was super-packed (especially at the parade square area where they have the Racing Queen Competition, bikes and cars promotion stalls, etc). Took some photos with my O2 Atom Pure again cos never bring camera. Unfortunately we didn't won any lucky draw prizes although our ears managed to accomodate the thunderous sound system with the Hokkien song from the stage prior to the draw.

We were just in time for the Racing Queen Finals
while we were searching for the lucky draw box...
*lucky?*

I managed to stand at a concrete thingy behind the crowd *clear view leh*
but it's the best photo I can focus liao *so dun say can't see the babes*

The standard carnival icon (referring to the colourful thing lah)

The shopping "mall"

Static display of vehicles from the SPF specialised unit
(the place where I target the red HomeTeam goodie bag *hehe*)

Ahem... this is my achievement for the day at the carnival lor~ *dun faint*

On your right, you can see the "Ang Chia" (red vehicle in Hokkien) from SOC~
On your left, you can see the patrol boat (or ship?) from the PCG~

High Investment

Since I'm going over to a new place where no blue uniform is needed, it's time to make some changes to my wardrobe... cos need to wear some office attire from 15th June onwards *sigh*

Office wear is not my cup of tea, so I got my buddy Baoli and Shirlene to go shopping with me earlier in Orchard. Lucky it was during the GSS period... if not the expenses would scare the sh*t out of me! Anyway even with all the discounts, I had spent a total of S$247.54 on alot of stuff, out of which S$136.60 was used on the new clothes for the new place(dun ever expect any skirts or dress for me hor). So far the investment for the new challenge had reached S$241.60 including the previous days' achievements *heart bleed lor*

When I reached home, it was a long session of mix-and-match inside mum's room (cos her room got full length mirror) with Shirlene as the advisor. The results were not bad wor *phew*... so guys and gals, it's time to see Ah Sze in office attire w.e.f 15th June 07!! Hahaha... sekali nobody interested to see also~
